Division Overview

The Division of Research strives to support faculty and students who continue to push the boundaries of scholarship and discovery at Clemson, a Carnegie R1 research institution. Our mission is to enhance Clemson’s reputation as a world-class research institution, while promoting a culture of discovery and excellence in a collaborative environment. The Division nurtures research activity at Clemson through its R-Initiative funding programs and celebrates excellence through the Researcher of the Year program and the University Research, Scholarship and Artistic Achievement Awards. The Division assists faculty in pursuing competitive research funding, managing awards, navigating complex regulation and compliance matters, collaborating with industry, and commercializing technologies. Additionally, the Division operates four core research facilities that offer world-class equipment and highly trained staff.

  • College Rates Agreement

    Visit the Office of Sponsored Programs website to view the new college rates on their home page.

  • Electronic Research Administration

    Submit a request form on the ERA website for PC support, new software or hardware needs, InfoEd requests, research data reports, new applications (such as Wrike, DocuSign, and others), as well as training and documentation support.

  • Research Development Workshops

    The Office of Research Development is offering a series of engaging workshops on topics such as navigating the federal funding landscape, demystifying EPSCoR opportunities, early-stage investigator programs, and more. Once completed, recordings of these sessions will be available on the Past Workshops page, where you can access them anytime for reference.

  • Research Compliance Workshops

    The Office of Research Compliance offers a variety of informative workshops covering topics such as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) education through brownbag sessions, and guidance specifically for Principal Investigators (PIs) on how to manage compliance responsibilities. These sessions are especially valuable for new faculty and those seeking to deepen their understanding of research ethics and regulatory requirements.

  • R-Initiative Funding Updates

    The Division of Research offers R-Initiative funding programs that support research, scholarship, and creative activities across all disciplines. These programs assist faculty with purchasing equipment, hiring postdoctoral researchers, accessing core facilities, and completing scholarly outputs such as books, journal articles, artwork, and other creative works.     Clemson University offers three funding initiatives to foster collaboration with Battelle Savannah River Alliance (BSRA)/Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), supporting equipment acquisition and the recruitment and training of graduate students and researchers.
